WASHINGTON, Jan. 20, 2014—The Bisignis Institute published its new Private Energy Investment Commitment Growth Index® today. The index is intended to give policymakers and researchers a guide when studying countries that the Bisignis Institute believes have shown significant growth in energy infrastructure investment coupled with strong GDP per capita growth.

Emerging Market Energy Security Growth Prosperity Index®

The top five countries in the index are India, Russia, China, Philippines, and Laos. Following is Indonesia, Thailand, Romania, Turkey and Vietnam.

The full list is published at bisignis.org/indexes.

How countries are ranked

Each country is ranked using a calculation of private sector participation in energy infrastructure projects (2006-2011) weighed against GDP per capita growth for 2012. (Source: World Development Indicators for 2013 from the World Bank).
